Case Study: Forney Power Project (2004)

At a length of 1,056-ft, this 22-cell wood cooling tower is the longest continuous structure ever built by GEA. Located in Forney, Texas this 1,800 MW combined cycle plant was placed into commercial operation in 2003.

This 22 cell Cooling Tower design met or exceeded the following criteria:

  • Design Duty:
    • 443,840 gpm
    • 110.0ºF hot water
    • 89.2ºF cold water
    • 75.2ºF inlet wet bulb
  • The tower was constructed with relatively little laydown and access space around the basin.
  • Onsite construction was completed in about 6 months.
