Case Study: Tucuman Power Station

This 450 MW combined cycle plant in El Bracho, Tucuman, Argentina, was placed into commercial operation in 1999. It has a 150 MW steam turbine (axial exhaust).

GEA recommended its PAC SYSTEM technology, consisting of a 15-cell ACC, surface condenser, and four-cell cooling tower (FRP structure). The PAC SYSTEM saves 50% make-up water annually (vs. 100% wet). It is the world's largest parallel condensing water saver system and GEA's largest PAC SYSTEM installation.

The PAC SYSTEM has helped optimize plant performance and increase annual net profits. At the same time, it has helped preserve water resources necessary for future power projects in the same region.
